She was a prodigy, a quick learner who eagerly absorbed every lesson given to her. It came as no surprise to her father that at the young age of thirteen, Franziska became a prosecutor. After all, it was expected, and as far as he was concerned, things were going as he had planned.

Franziska grew up with little friends, and considering her family name, people were either intimidated by her or she never cared enough to kindle friendships. The only "companion" she had was a boy named Miles Edgeworth. Her father adopted him after the death of Miles' father and his own personal rival Gregory Edgeworth, and did not waste a second into pushing his morals and beliefs onto the boy. Franziska regarded Miles as an enemy to some degree, determined to excel him in anything they did. In a way that only von Karma's are capable of, the two of them became...close. She addresses him as her younger brother, even though he has several years more than her.

Under Manfred, Franziska and Miles prosecuted as he had told them, with no mercy and complete confidence in receiving the perfect verdict whether it be through legal methods or not. Franziska was successful in her home country, Germany and after five years of a perfect-win record she moved to Los Angeles to face Phoenix Wright. Phoenix had just recently defeated her father in court around the same time and put him behind bars under the crime of murder (among other things.) She was furious and combined with the fact that her "younger" brother Miles had lost his own spotless record to Phoenix and left behind a suicide note was enough to force her to meet the man himself. She was yearning for revenge, ever since the disbarment of her father and the disappearance of her brother.

Her battle with Phoenix in court was bitter, laced with her desire for vengeance and his determination to win the case with faith in finding the verdict with truth. He won in the end, obliterating Franziska's own personal win-count and frustrating her beyond belief. The two faced off several times after that, with Franziska losing each case. During her Shelly de Killer case against Phoenix, Franziska was injured, shot on the shoulder by the killer himself. Although she was able to recover in time to deliver evidence vital to the case, she was confused and a bit lost about her morals and priorities, and decided then to return to Germany.

She eventually came back to the states after Miles had requested her presence in court, and under high hopes of defeating him, she arrived. Franziska was not successful in winning the case, but she had been of assistance during the investigation. Since then, Franziska had been living in Los Angeles for the most part, with several visits to her home in Germany.

ONORATA-VERSE BACKGROUND:

Franziska grew up within the relatively well-known von Karma family name of Germany, daughter of its leader Manfred and heir to its fortune. She grew up with her adopted brother Miles and was taught with ideals of consistent perfection and the means necessary to keep it. Manfred von Karma was determined not to let her stray from the path he laid out for her, and eliminated what little obstacles stood in her way. What he was unprepared for, however, was the eventual deterioration of his name when he landed into a handful of trouble with the law. He immediately forced Franziska into the Monacello family of Italy through his plentiful connections and contacts, desperate to keep her in the mold she had grown in.

She had spent most of her life surrounded by his illegal acts and crimes, not fully understanding the consequences of the actions. It came to no surprise that she had little trouble growing into the Monacello household, which was littered with assassinations, drug rings, gambling and prostitution among other things. These things were not unfamiliar to her, although the change of scenery in Reggio Calabria certainly was. Franziska was eighteen years old when her father left her in Don Monacello's capable hands, and she had spent her whole life growing up in Berlin. Initially, she had a bit of difficulty settling in the mysterious city with its foreign tongue but she eventually learned to speak it as fluently as she could with the aid of books and curt conversations. Franziska immediately set out to make connections for herself, settling in with the members of the underground. Manfred von Karma had taught her well, she trusted no one and showed no hesitance in doing what she deemed necessary to rise to the top.

Franziska understood that her father had trusted her enough to not make a fool out of herself, and she swiftly began to rise in the rankings of the Monacello. She was determined to prove her worth and with her cold personality and swift, unforgiving punishments towards the lesser members of the families, she had earned a title for herself as a Caporegime. Franziska forgave very little, and sought more than anything to perfect herself, whether it showed in her cruel forms of torture or her cold, no-nonsense demeanor.

ALIGNMENT: Monacello.
RANK: Caporegime.
